What "Your Secret's Safe With Me" actually means

"Safe with me" means we do not expose you, sell you, or attach your name to anything you confide. Your submission is decoupled from your identity at the database level — not just by policy, but by architecture. There is no path from what you write back to who you are.

Two hard limits remain, and we'd rather be honest about them than make a promise we can't keep:

• A crisis disclosure routes you toward real help. If what you share indicates you're in immediate danger — to yourself or someone else — we will respond with care and helpline resources, not advice.
• Anything involving a minor crosses a legal line that cannot be kept secret. India's laws on child protection are explicit. We comply with them.

What data we collect

We operate on a minimum-data principle. Here's what we actually hold:

• Age verification: A single boolean — is_adult = true. No ID, no date of birth, no identity document.
• Submissions ("secrets"): The text you write. No name, no IP address, no account ID, no timestamp that could identify you. Stored separately from any account information by design.
• Account (if you create one): A pseudonymous handle and a magic-link email address. No real name required. Ever.
• Newsletter: Your email address, nothing else.
• Analytics: Aggregate, anonymised page views. No individual tracking.

What we never do

• We never sell your data to anyone.
• We never share your data with advertisers.
• We never attach your name or identity to your confessions or submissions.
• We never use dark patterns — streaks, notification nagging, manufactured urgency — to keep you here.
• We never publish anything you share without an explicit opt-in from you. The default is always private.
• We never serve content to someone who appears to be under 18.

The 18+ gate

This site covers adult themes — relationships, sex, intimacy. You must be 18 or over to use it. We verify this through a privacy-preserving confirmation at entry — no ID, no date of birth, just a boolean stored locally. We do not serve sexual content to minors.

Consent before publishing

Nothing you share with Chechi appears publicly without an explicit opt-in from you. The submission form has two options: private only (default), or may be published anonymised (requires your affirmative choice). No pre-ticked boxes.

Your rights (DPDP Act)

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, you have the right to:

• Access the data we hold on you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Delete your data — one-tap, complete, irreversible.
• Know what we collect and why.

Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Accounts use magic-link authentication — no passwords to steal. The separation between confessions and account data is enforced at the schema level.
